Many years ago, Redeemer Lutheran Church had a
dream to establish a Christian Day School to meet
the educational and spiritual needs of the children
of its congregation and its community. Throughout
the decades much has changed, but our goals remain
the same.

1950's
|
In 1957, a principal and a teacher,
Gary and Rosemary Behrens were called to
establish the school, together with the
Parish Education Board, the Board of
Elders and individual members of the
congregation. That first year, Redeemer
Lutheran School had two classrooms and 53
students in Grades one through eight.

|
1960's
|
Enrollment first surpassed 100 in 1960,
with 107 students attending. By 1966, the
school increased its teaching staff to
five. An adjoining property was purchased
in 1964 which eventually became home to
the school office and its administrative
offices.

|
1970's
|
In 1970, Redeemer started a yearly
tradition, a science fair designed to
showcase what the students had learned.
The school also added their first
Kindergarten class, expanding to its
current Kindergarten through Grade Eight
format.
|
|
1980's
|
Increasing enrollment required Redeemer
Lutheran School to rent three classrooms
from a neighboring Baptist Church.
|
|
1990's
|
Enrollment continued to grow, with as
many as 187 students enrolled at one time.
Extended Care, providing supervision for
students before and after school was added
in 1990. These years also found Redeemer
Lutheran School excelling in technology.
Starting with only a few machines, each
classroom was eventually equipped with
multiple machines for students use.

2000's
|
After 44 years of shepherding Redeemer
Lutheran School, Gary Behrens retired as
principal. Marvin Laurente, who had served
as a teacher at Redeemer School in the
1960's returned to serve as the interim
principal through the 2002-2003 school
year. In July 2003, Michael Mancini was
called as principal to lead Redeemer
Lutheran School into the future. During
the early years of the decade exciting
plans for a new educational facility have
taken form. Ground breaking on this new
facility occurred in August 2005. The new
building was dedicated on August 20, 2006
and opened for classes on August 23.
Redeemer Lutheran School celebrates its
50th year of children's education
throughout the 2006-2007 school year.
